The Wine Independent Sarah Mayo - 08 Nov 23
The Brut Reserve NV is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from the base vintage 2018. Fermented in stainless steel, the wines undergo full malolactic fermentation and are aged five years before disgorgement. A pretty, light gold color and showing a persistent bead, it has a fresh, peaches and cream nose with fresh brioche and honey notes. The medium-bodied palate is lively with racy acidity encasing concentrated red fruit and lighting up a long, honeyed finish. This is a gastronomic champagne The bottle tasted was disgorged April 2023 and has a seven grams per liter.

The NV Brut Réserve is vibrant and tense right out of the gate. Although Pinot-dominated, the Brut Réserve really bristles with energy. Green pear, apple, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks are finely delineated in a vivid NV Champagne to drink now and over the next few years. Disgorged: November, 2022.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
